Know the purpose of each document
Identify the form or agreement, person, account, and period it concerns. A service contract, information authorization, representation permission, and return can have different functions. Read their actual terms separately. A complete-looking packet should not leave an important purpose unexplained or cause one signature request to be treated as approval of unrelated work.
Review the information and open questions
Ask which facts have been checked and what still requires clarification. Use current instructions relevant to the form, including applicable signing and submission requirements. If supporting records are needed, understand their purpose and private handling. This guide does not decide how a particular document must be executed; the actual document and appropriate requirements govern that question.
Understand responsibility after signing
Clarify who reviews, submits, and retains the final material where a service task is agreed. Keep the version actually authorized separate from earlier drafts and any actual confirmation separate from a planned action. Terms and fees should be understood before the work proceeds. An organized signing list helps explain the task without proving that the IRS received or accepted the material.
